The Perfect Weekend in Porto: A 2-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Ribeira & the historic center

Start in Ribeira with a walk along the Douro, then climb the Dom Luís I Bridge's upper deck for skyline views. Spend the late morning exploring Porto Cathedral and the winding lanes down to the riverside square. After lunch at a riverside tasca, cross into Vila Nova de Gaia for a port wine cellar tour and tasting. In the evening, wander back across the lower bridge deck as the city lights come on.

Day 2: Aliados, Foz & the coast

Begin at Livraria Lello before the crowds, then climb Clérigos Tower for a panoramic view. Walk Aliados Avenue toward Mercado do Bolhão for a market lunch, then take Tram 1 out to Foz do Douro for a coastal afternoon — the Felgueiras lighthouse, a walk along the promenade, and fresh seafood as the sun goes down over the Atlantic.
